Epistrophy: For Voice and Drum

Presented amid Melvin Edwards, Sam Gilliam, and William T. Williams: Epistrophy, exhibited this spring at Pace’s 540 West 25th Street gallery in New York, this Pace Live performance featured a call and response between musician and composer Austin Williamson of the Onyx Collective and Brent Hayes Edwards, professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. The performance highlighted jazz music’s powerful presence in the work of the artists in Epistrophy.
