The genesis of the three artists’ collaboration stretches back to 2017, when Elmgreen & Dragset, who had been selected to curate the 15th Istanbul Biennial, invited Wilson to participate. In the years since, the artists have continued to explore resonant themes in their practices, such as performance, humor, beauty, and institutional critique.
