Films Figure Eight Elmgreen & Dragset at the Hirshhorn Museum Sculpture Garden Published Friday, Oct 30, 2026 Ahead of the opening of the revitalized Sculpture Garden at Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum, Ingar Dragset of Elmgreen & Dragset provides a preview of the artist duo's new monumental sculpture Eight (2026). Commissioned for the Sculpture Garden, the upended and empty Eight extends the artists’ decades-long exploration of the pool motif, inspiring new perspectives around the familiar form. “This kind of displacement hopefully evokes new associations, new thoughts,” says Dragset. Eight will be on view to the public in Washington, D.C., starting Saturday, October 31.
