Films Adrian Ghenie on His Seoul Exhibition Published Friday, Sep 9, 2022 Adrian Ghenie, who is best known for his lush oil paintings of figures in layered, cinematic works that mine visual, political, and social histories, is presenting his first solo exhibition in Asia at Pace’s expanded arts complex in Seoul. On view through October 22, the presentation spotlights a new body of charcoal drawings of figures looking at their cell phones, manipulating remote controls, and engaging in other enactments of what the artist has termed “21st century body language.”In this new film, Ghenie explains his approach to drawing and discusses the conceptual underpinnings and formal qualities of the works on paper in his solo show in Seoul, the artist’s first exhibition devoted entirely to the medium.
