Using as her starting point the Mohammed Khaïr-Eddine surrealist text Agadir, centered on the 1967 earthquake that devastated the Moroccan city, Barrada weaves together personal narratives and political histories to examine how a city and its people might approach the process of reinvention after a disaster. This exhibition is Barrada's first major London commission, and will present a mural, film, sculpture, and a series of live and recorded performances to transform the Barbican's Curve gallery.Yto Barrada: Agadir is on view February 7 through May 20, 2018 at the Barbican Centre in London, England.
