In This Space and Time: Lee Ufan at SMAC Venice

One of the foremost figures of the Japanese Mono-ha (School of Things) as well as a key contributor to the Korean Dansaekhwa (Monochromatic Paintings) movements, Lee Ufan has long explored the possibilities of embodying and representing space and time through painterly gestures on canvas and the use of diverse sculptural materials. His landmark exhibition at San Marco Art Centre in Venice, staged across eight galleries at the Procuratie in Piazza San Marco, brings together a striking selection of paintings and sculptures from over seven decades.

Beneath the Venetian Moon: Nigel Cooke’s Bad Habits

For his exhibition Bad Habits at Fondazione Querini Stampalia, one of Venice’s oldest and most prestigious institutions, Nigel Cooke drew inspiration from the city's lagoon, canals, and singular conditions of light, painting large-scale compositions in a deep, nocturnal palette.

Building Worlds: Torkwase Dyson in Venice

For In Minor Keys, the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Torkwase Dyson created Tougaloo, a large-scale multimedia installation incorporating atmospheric soundscapes and glass made on the Venetian island of Murano. Referencing her time at Tougaloo College in Mississippi as well as the history of displacement of the Choctaw Nation, who were the original inhabitants of that area, the work expands upon her visionary exploration of transhistorical liberation in world-building.
