Pace, Emmanuel Di Donna, and David Schrader Announce Launch of Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries

A New Global Gallery Devoted to Secondary Market Sales and Practices

Published Monday Dec 1, 2025

Pace Gallery, Emmanuel Di Donna, and David Schrader today announced the launch of Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries, which is poised to become the leading global gallery devoted to secondary market sales. Unifying the unparalleled experience and resources of three of the world’s leading art dealers, Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries is creating a boutique gallery that will operate on a global scale. The new venture will combine connoisseurship, discretion, and access with the reach, breadth of expertise, and acumen to service any collector or consignor.

Headquartered on New York’s Upper East Side, Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries will leverage the collective knowledge, experience, and global networks of three market leaders and enterprises to offer bespoke strategies for acquiring and selling high-value and historically significant artworks, from private sales to auction negotiation, exhibitions to collection-building, and client advisory to finance. Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries will commence operations in early 2026, formally open its gallery in summer 2026, and will present a major historical exhibition in fall 2026.

Pace Gallery, Emmanuel Di Donna, and David Schrader are equal partners in Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries. They will work collaboratively on all areas of the venture, creating a gallery enterprise of unequaled knowledge, experience, and reach.

PDS will be able to leverage Pace’s spaces and resources globally—including galleries in Los Angeles, London, Geneva, Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo, as well as Pace’s global headquarters in New York. PDS also builds upon Pace’s longstanding relationships with renowned postwar artists and estates, and decades-long history in the secondary market.

Emmanuel Di Donna, founder of Di Donna Galleries, brings to the partnership a gallery infrastructure and a focus on high-end, boutique collection curation that will form the foundation for PDS. Over the past fifteen years, Di Donna Galleries has distinguished itself through museum-quality exhibitions and high-value private sales of blue-chip Surrealist, modern, and postwar art. Prior to opening his gallery in 2010, Emmanuel Di Donna was the Vice Chairman of Sotheby’s Impressionist and Modern Art Worldwide. He has achieved many world-record private sales of artists and built institutional and private collections of the highest caliber. In summer 2026, the team at Di Donna Galleries will expand to PDS’s Upper East Side headquarters, providing the foundational structure and curatorial mission for Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries.

David Schrader will build upon his decade spearheading private sales at Sotheby’s, which established the auction house as the leading secondary market platform in the world. At Sotheby’s, he worked closely with a broad spectrum of collectors around the world on refining and building their collections. Previously, Schrader worked at J.P. Morgan and imported many of the practices that power global finance and adapted them to the art world. An active collector throughout his decades-long career in finance prior to joining Sotheby’s, Schrader has combined his passion and expertise in art with his ability to guide clients through complex and, at times, sensitive business matters and on structuring large-scale transactions.

Marc Glimcher said, "Pace has always held its historic program to the highest standard, presenting museum-quality exhibitions as far back as the early 1970s. We’ve brought the same energy of representing living artists to the presentation of great historic figures, which has always been a hallmark of what we do at Pace. This venture—representing a new path for our work in the secondary market—will bring those efforts to a new and unprecedented level of performance.”

“For more than two decades, Marc, David, and I have collaborated informally whenever a work, a collection, or a museum project called for a shared perspective,” said Emmanuel Di Donna. “Formalizing that partnership now feels both natural and timely. Together, we’ll be able to offer collectors a truly holistic experience—one that brings every resource under one roof: curatorial insight, market expertise, guidance on acquisitions and deaccessions, and long-standing relationships with institutions around the world. This venture allows us to support our clients with the depth, rigor, and continuity that great masterworks deserve.”

“Private sales now represent more than half of all blue-chip transactions,” said David Schrader. “Our new venture is a strategic and structural response to a market that has outgrown its old architecture. Pace Di Donna Schrader brings together the qualities that matter most to collectors—connoisseurship, discerning judgment, disciplined execution, and a thoughtful long-term approach to building collections. Our focus is simple: to steward important works of art with the rigor and discretion they deserve.”

Schrader continued, “Both Emmanuel and I have deep ties with Sotheby’s and, while there is no formal relationship between the businesses, we look forward to continued collaboration with Sotheby's when it advances our clients’ goals.”

Added Arne Glimcher, “For 65 years, Pace has been about something more than one individual. The secret to our success has always been the people behind vision. Beginning with Milly and me in Boston, the gallery has always been the work of a team. From Marc, who has just celebrated his 40th year in the business and 15th year at the helm, to Samanthe and our leadership team, each new member of this community has brought their distinct talents to create a truly remarkable institution.

“I am so excited about this new partnership with Emmanuel and David, whose incredible talents and deep experience have set a standard for excellence while transforming the landscape of the art world. We all see Pace Di Donna Schrader Galleries as a venture that will transform how galleries serve consigners and collectors; bringing the growth of the secondary market to new heights, while stewarding the legacy of the great art we have the privilege to work with.”
