Diapasão

Aug 15 – Oct 19, 2025
Instituto Tomie Ohtake
São Paulo, Brazil

Diapasão, title of the exhibition, refers to the instrument that serves as a reference for tuning. In the context of the show, it points to the visual experience as a sense that can fine-tune our perception of space, color and matter.

With about 80 works including paintings, watercolors and study notebooks, the exhibition reaffirms the commitment of the Tomie Ohtake Institute to expand access to contemporary artistic production and integrates a trajectory of exhibitions that highlight the inventive strength of women artists - Anna Maria Maiolino, Vânia Mignone, Iole de Freitas, Maria Lira Marques, Mira Schendel and Patrícia Leite are the most recent examples.

Considered one of the greatest colorists of her generation, Marina Perez Simão explores light, color, texture and movement, creating compositions of strong visual and emotional impact. Her work stands out for her ability to involve the senses, the result of a synesthetic approach present throughout her production. The exhibition proposes an experience of deep interaction with the public, inviting you to a chromatic and perceptive dive into the artist's work.

The Ministry of Culture, via the Federal Law of Incentive to Culture (Rouanet Law), Nubank, in the Institutional Maintainer quota, and the Tomie Ohtake Institute present this exhibition. The show is sponsored by Banco NEON in the silver quota and with the support of Galeria Mendes Wood DM.
