Loie Hollowell in Conversation with Hettie Judah at Pace London

“We’re completely dependent on our children, and our children are dependent on us. That becomes a metaphor for the world. We have been birthed of this earth, and we should take care of it… and it will take care of us.” In this conversation with writer and curator Hettie Judah, Loie Hollowell reflects on Overview Effect, her recent exhibition at Pace London. Taking its title from the term astronauts use to describe seeing Earth from space, the body of work considers interdependence, care, and transformation, informed by the artist’s experience of giving birth to her second child.

Overview Effect, Hollowell’s first exhibition in the UK since 2018, remains on view at Pace London through May 23.
