Films Explore "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" with Virginia Jaramillo Published Friday, Jun 9, 2023 In our new film, Virginia Jaramillo takes us on a journey through her exhibition East of the Sun, West of the Moon, on view at our Los Angeles gallery through June 24. The artist discusses how her interests in ancient histories and civilizations as well as planetary phenomena manifest in her new paintings. She also talks about the importance of color in her practice, particularly its emotional, spiritual, and psychological resonances. Each of the nine new paintings featured in East of the Sun, West of the Moon are deeply related to Jaramillo's past bodies of work, including the Foundations artworks spotlighted in our online exhibition, which runs concurrently with the artist's in-person show in LA.
