Textile art, chita fabric, embroidery, traditional Brazilian weaving, and indigenous graphic motifs serve as references from which she draws inspiration, transforming them all into a distinctive artistic language of her own.Beatriz Milhazes: gravuras do acervo da Pinacoteca de São Paulo brings together, for the first time, a set of 27 prints produced between 1996 and 2019. These works are the result of the artist’s collaboration with Jean-Paul Rusell, founder of Durham Press—a studio based in Pennsylvania, USA, dedicated to the publication of prints, artist’s books, and unique works. The Pinacoteca is the only museum in the world to hold this specific collection of works. In the exhibition, one can also observe the way Milhazes assembles and reassembles forms, colors, and seemingly empty spaces, such as those found in O pato (1996) and Noite de verão (2006).
