Arlene Shechet in Conversation with Stephanie Barron and David Salle

Watch Arlene Shechet's full conversation with artist David Salle and Stephanie Barron, Senior Curator and Department Head of Modern Art at LACMA, which was presented by Pace Live and LACMA’s Modern and Contemporary Art Council at our Los Angeles gallery. The event was organized as part of Shechet's exhibition of her new outdoor sculpture Big Sister (2025), on view in the LA gallery's courtyard through June 6. In this talk, Shechet discusses her acclaimed 2024 presentation Girl Group at Storm King Art Center in New York and speaks about her approach to color and form in sculptures of various scales. "I want discovery, I want questions ... As a sculptor, one of the tools for doing that is changing scale and changing materials," she says.
