Events Symposium exploring the career of John Hoyland Chelsea College of Arts March 10, 2016 On 10 March 2016, the Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts, London, will be host to an all-day symposium exploring the career of John Hoyland, entitled Colour, Emotion, Non-Figuration: John Hoyland Revisited.The series of talks will explore Hoyland’s art in context, while also opening his painting up to new perspectives. Panels of painters will discuss painting and studio practice in the context of Hoyland’s art. Subjects will range from curating Hoyland and the idea of a retrospective; the technical aspects of his paintings’ construction; the European as opposed to American sources of his inspiration; and the concept of the ‘late work’.
