Taking inspiration from the works of painting, sculpture, and drawings on view in the exhibition, Durbin—author of The Wonderful World That Almost Was: A Life of Peter Hujar and Paul Thek (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2026)—will join Sussman and Da Corte in a wide-ranging discussion about Thek’s idiosyncratic, multifaceted practice. Coming from one of the most mysterious, provocative, and quietly influential figures in the history of post-1960s art, Thek’s work prompts prescient questions around the nature of art, its longevity, and its capacity for renewal.Co-presented by Pace Live and The Watermill Center, the conversation will be moderated by Pace’s Chief Curator Oliver Shultz.
