Accountant

The Sales Accountant is a member of a collaborative team and serves as a business partner to the dealer’s offices. The position will take on a broad range of responsibilities related to accounts receivable, sales and art purchasing journal entries entering and reporting cash receipts in multiple currencies; reconciliation of trial balance accounts including sales, sales tax, receivables, inventory, artist production and artist payables; reviewing and generating corresponding entries for recognizing sales according to GAAP and industry standard rules; reporting sales to management; completing sales reports of gallery sales for artists; review of / revisions to customer statements and support to dealer’s office of customer account information.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support Sales offices as point person on team to answer queries on customer and artist accounts, confirm various state sales tax rates for invoices, generate payment support for submission to AP, etc.
  • Review, release and post entries for sales, consignments, commissions and inventory purchases, etc.
  • Generate and review artist’s monthly/quarterly consignor/sales reports
  • Work closely with colleagues to complete month end closing process, including posting of journal entries, preparation of account analyses
  • Generate re-bill invoices to clients for freight, installation, conservation, etc.
  • Record and post customer receipts and generate client payment reports for management
  • Support midyear audit reviews and international year end audits
  • Prepare and document and update policies and procedures, as needed
  • Assist in generating, analyzing, and correctly reporting weekly sales to management
  • Other ad-hoc projects as needed

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with a middle-market or high-end accounting program; Sage Intacct a plus
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook with a strong emphasis on combining and using higher functions in Excel including SUMIF, INDEX-MATCH & PIVOT TABLES
  • Team player attitude with excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with all management levels.
  • Strong service provider abilities always ready to support other offices
  • Initiative to solve issues, a collaborative working style and willingness to accept direct accountability
  • Detail-oriented, analytical and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Enthusiasm for assisting in process improvements, challenging the status quo and assisting in process improvements.

Estimation compensation for this role is $66,000 - $80,000.
