Turrell is known worldwide for installations that explore perceptions of light and space. Pace's presentation of works by Ad Reinhardt, curated by Turrell, will include the artist's new Wedgework installation titled After Effect (2021). Turrell’s curatorial vision for the exhibition of Reinhardt’s paintings on the second floor centers enactments of lightness and darkness, and he has created a lighting concept to conjure new modes of viewing Reinhardt’s abstractions. Turrell is also currently the subject of a major retrospective at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams, Massachusetts. Read More About the ArtistJames Turrell has dedicated his practice to what he has deemed perceptual art, investigating the materiality of light. Influenced by the notion of pure feeling in pictorial art, Turrell’s earliest work focused on the dialectic between constructing light and painting with light, building on the sensorial experience of space, color, and perception.Learn More Journal View All PST - Los Angeles Gif Exhibitions Our Artists at Pacific Standard Time 2024 Sep 13, 2024 Pace Publishing Ad Reinhardt: Color Out of Darkness, Curated by James Turrell Jan 11, 2024 Artist Projects Support Light Feb 07, 2020 Museum Exhibitions "James Turrell: Passages of Light" at Museo Jumex Oct 29, 2019 Overview About the Artist Journal
