Urs Fischer: CHAOS #20-#31

Jul 21 – Aug 7, 2021

Urs Fischer’s CHAOS series of original digital sculptures comprises 501 NFTs created using 3D modeling and 3D scanning. This body of work focuses on pairings of objects and foods produced or cultivated by humans, with the two components of each piece rotating around and intersecting with one another.
Urs Fischer, CHAOS #20 Sashay, 2021, non-fungible token, Token Name: MakersTokenV2, ID: #66709, Contract ID: 0x2a46f2ffd99e19a89476e2f62270e0a35bbf0756

Twelve spirited works from the CHAOS series—including pieces that pair a piece of broccoli with a sponge and a cinder block with a bust—are on view in this presentation.
Urs Fischer, CHAOS #22 Simulacrum, 2021, non-fungible token, Token Name: MakersTokenV2, ID: #66711, Contract ID: 0x2a46f2ffd99e19a89476e2f62270e0a35bbf0756

The resulting collisions between the objects yield unexpected new forms, reflecting the artist’s explorations of perspective, perception, and materiality, as well as his intense interest in interactions among seemingly disparate, incongruous elements.

Pace’s presentation of works from the CHAOS series aligns with its investment in new technologies—the gallery is also supporting the launch of NFTs by Simon Denny and Glenn Kaino this summer. In September, Pace will launch a dedicated NFT platform on its website to host exhibitions by artists on its roster and outside collaborators alike. A group of NFTs from Lucas Samaras’s archive of digital works will mark the launch of Pace’s new platform.
