Nathalie Du Pasquier featured in The Almanach 18

Organized by Le Consortium

Consortium Museum, Dijon
June 22 – October 14, 2018

For nearly forty years, Nathalie Du Pasquier has playfully blurred the boundaries between fine art and design. Since 1987, she has dedicated her practice to painting and sculpture. She continues to challenge the concept of representation. As with her early design work, her vividly-colored paintings explore complex arrangements of forms, ideas of depiction versus reality, and the expressive relations between objects and colors.

Du Pasquier’s work is currently featured in The Almanach 18, an international biennale organized by Le Consortium, in Dijon, France. Twelve monographic proposals by artists and curators are presented in this year’s edition, which runs until 14 October 2018.

Nathalie Du Pasquier

Nathalie Du Pasquier worked as a designer as part of the Memphis Group until 1987, producing patterns, textiles, decorated surfaces, and furniture. Since then, her main focus and passion has been painting. Over the past thirty-five years, Du Pasquier has been intrigued by the relationship between objects and the spaces in which they are installed. This ongoing investigation has manifested in paintings, sculptures, designs, patterns, constructions, carpets, books, and ceramics—constantly acting between the representational and non-representational, the tangible and intangible, reality and imagination, and two- and three-dimensional forms.
