This accordion-fold booklet, published by Pace Gallery in 1983, includes sculptures from Louise Nevelson’s Cascades Perpendiculars series created between 1980 and 1982. Made in memory of Louise Nevelson, this paper portfolio opens to reveal a selection of materials that encompass the sculptor’s career, including brochures, accordion-fold leaflets, a collection of postcards, and loose images of her artworks.

An interview with Nevelson by Arne Glimcher from 1976 accompanies twelve letters of remembrance by her friends and peers, among them Edward Albee, Lucas Samaras, Diana MacKown, Hilton Kramer, Jean Lipman, and John Cage.

Published in conjunction with the exhibition held in New York in 2002, this publication also includes a text by Robert C. Morgan that traces the development of Nevelson’s practice across the two formative decades.

Alongside depictions of over 500 works—from collage and sculpture to installation and design—presented in chronological order, an extensive chronology and excerpts from Nevelson’s own writings provide invaluable context for her artistic production. Also included are some 200 images of documents, photographs, magazine articles, as well as 50 works by her contemporaries.
