Films Into the Unknown with Arlene Shechet Published Friday, Oct 26, 2024 American sculptor Arlene Shechet will open Beyond Belief, her first-ever solo exhibition in Japan, at Pace's new Tokyo gallery on November 2. The exhibition, on view through December 21, will offer a broad view of the artist's diverse body of work, showcasing new and recent sculptures, works on paper, and tapestries that ride the edge between stillness and motion, much like that of the Japanese art and material culture that has long inspired her. Here, Shechet speaks about her process, her interest in unlikely combinations of forms and materials, and how sculpture can create a "window into the unknown."
