A Promise of Light: Inside Marina Perez Simão's Luminescent Landscapes

Our new film centers on Solanaceae, Marina Perez Simão's first solo exhibition on the West Coast of the US, on view at our LA gallery through March 2. In her narration, the artist discusses the formal nuances and philosophical underpinnings of her latest landscape paintings, including her new monumental panoramas in LA and her recent fresco commission in São Paulo. "My job is to make paintings that have the potential to be manifestations of several meanings," Simão says. "The more meanings, the better."
