Under Fred Wilson’s Chandeliers, Pace presents an evening of music featuring works by four iconic American composers: Pauline Oliveros’s Tuning Meditation (1971); John Cage’s In a Landscape (1948), Julius Eastman’s rarely heard Piano 2 (1986); and Philip Glass’s Dreaming Awake (2007). Curated and performed by pianist Pedja Muzijevic, this presentation explores four diverse and unique voices of American music, inviting the audience to go on a contemplative journey of music and visual arts.

Pedja Muzijevic

Bosnian born pianist Pedja Muzijevic has defined his career with creative programming, unusual combinations of new and old music, and lasting collaborations with artists and ensembles. Pedja’s symphonic engagements include performances with the Atlanta Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, Milwaukee Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, Residentie Orkest in The Hague, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Shinsei Nihon Orchestra in Tokyo, and the Zagreb Philharmonic. He has played solo recitals at Alice Tully Hall in New York, 92Y, Mostly Mozart Festival and The Frick Collection in New York, Terrace Theater at Kennedy Center, Dumbarton Oaks, Phillips Collection and National Gallery in Washington, DC, Casals Hall and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, and many others. His Carnegie Hall concerto debut playing Mozart Concerto K. 503 with Oberlin Symphony and Robert Spano was recorded live and has been released on the Oberlin Music label. Pedja’s many festival appearances include the Holland, Melbourne, Lucerne, Verbier, Spoleto USA and Aldeburgh festivals and he is the artistic administrator at Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York and artistic advisor to Tippet Rise Arts Center in Montana.
