Torkwase Dyson Included in 2024 Whitney Biennial

Congratulations to Torkwase Dyson on her participation in the 2024 Whitney Biennial, Even Better Than The Real Thing, opening March 20 at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Dyson, who will present a large-scale installation on the museum's terrace, is among 71 artists and collectives in the upcoming show. Established in 1932, the Whitney Biennial is one of the most storied art events in the United States, and the agenda-setting exhibition marks its 81st edition this year.

Torkwase Dyson describes herself as a painter working across multiple mediums to explore the continuity between ecology, infrastructure, and architecture. Examining human geography and the history of Black spatial liberation strategies, Dyson’s abstract works grapple with the ways in which space is perceived, imagined and negotiated particularly by black and brown bodies.
