Arlene Shechet and Laura Hoptman in Conversation

On the occasion of Arlene Shechet: Next Sentence at our Palm Beach gallery, Shechet joined Laura Hoptman, Director of the Drawing Center New York, for a talk hosted at The Bunker Artspace in West Palm Beach.

Shechet, who in 2021 curated the second iteration of the Drawing Center’s Ways of Seeing: Three Takes on the Jack Shear Drawing Collection, is known for her effortless combination of disparate elements, precarious and provisional arrangements, and boundary-collapsing visual paradoxes. On view through February 5, our exhibition of the artist’s new sculptures in Palm Beach brings together works by Shechet ranging in size from small- to human-scale.
