'Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World' at the Guggenheim

Featuring Song Dong, Yin Xiuzhen, and Zhang Xiaogang

Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World opens October 6 at the Guggenheim Museum, featuring works by Pace artists Song Dong, Yin Xiuzhen, and Zhang Xiaogang. The exhibition explores work by key artists and collectives whose "critical provocations aim to forge reality free from ideology, to establish the individual apart from the collective, and to define contemporary Chinese experience in universal terms." The exhibition is organized thematically in six sections, and is presented in throughout the rotunda and in Towers 5 and 7.
