Pace was one of the first international galleries to establish outposts in Asia where it operates permanent spaces in Hong Kong and Seoul.Pace is seeking a collaborative, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Communications Manager who has a strong awareness of the West Coast media landscape and art world, as well as experience in event production and marketing. As part of the Global Communications & Public Engagement department, this position will be a part of our California communications team based in Los Angeles. The Communications Manager will be based in LA splitting their time between developing and implementing media campaigns and coordinating events and live programs for the gallery's LA outpost as well promoting the gallery’s West Coast activities, including promotion of the gallery’s outpost in Palo Alto. The role will report into the Communications team based in New York.DepartmentCommunication & Public RelationsWhat you'll be doing:Work together with the Director of Public Relations and the PR team in NY to implement press campaigns for exhibitions, art fairs, and other gallery activities in LA and Palo AltoProactively reach out to arts and culture media in tandem with the PR team in NY to create awareness around exhibitions and programs in LA and on the West CoastMaintain and update extensive press list database; develop tailored press lists to support PR campaigns and monitor/flag new press contacts for the teamActively monitor LA’s press inbox and field relevant press inquiries in real timeCompile, organize, and format key communications materials such press releases, images and caption sheets, press kits, and coverage booksSupport with press event coordination and media cultivationCorporate strategy input – develop and support on messaging as we develop campaigns and overarching messagingMaintain and grow relationships with members of the press on Pace’s behalfReport media coverage and press updates in real-timeEvents:Deliver the gallery’s audience and client cultivation initiatives in LA, including but not limited to exhibition-related events, global art fair events, large-scale corporate events, miscellaneous cultivation events, and a range of public programs including Pace LiveLiaise with artists and key players to produce public-facing performances, screenings, panel discussions, etc. in coordination with the departments within the galleriesPrepare and coordinate budgets, expense tracking, and invoice processingMarketing:Set up and manage Asana project managing tools for exhibition and art fair projects in CaliforniaContribute towards West Coast audience development strategies and the development of OKRs for various marketing channels, in close collaboration with the Marketing Director and CMOInput on global social media schedule as relates to Pace’s West Coast activity and corporate goalsWhat you'll bring:Bachelor’s degree (Liberal Arts, Art History, Marketing or Communication (or related fields)At least 3-4 years of experience working in communications in the arts/culture fieldExperience working in the PR/comms department at a museum or gallery and/or PR agency preferredExperience with events coordinationFamiliarity with project management and marketing tools, including Asana and social media scheduling platformsAble to work collaboratively and independently under pressure and meet tight deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills, including verbal and writingExceptional project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitaskFamiliarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools as well as event management softwareExtremely organized and detail-orientedLiteracy in media with strong analytical skillsIn addition to an active and progressive work environment, Pace Gallery offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance, retirement plans with a company match, flexible spending accounts and commuter benefits.
