Maya Lin to speak at the Tate on October 15

Maya Lin has been selected by the State Department's Office of Art in Embassies (AIE) to be the next speaker in the AIE American Artist Lecture Series at the Tate Modern-London, part of a unique collaboration with Embassy London. In celebration of AIE’s 50th anniversary, Lin will speak about her practice and recent and upcoming projects on October 15, 2012. Throughout her career, Maya Lin has maintained a careful balance between art and architecture, creating a remarkable body of work that encompasses large-scale site specific installations, intimate studio artworks, architectural works and memorials. She draws inspiration from the landscape, interpreting the world through a twenty-first century lens, merging rational order with notions of beauty and the transcendental. Her work asks the viewer to reconsider nature and the environment at a time when it is crucial to do so.

Lin's lecture follows the inaugural AIE American Artist Lecture by Brice Marden. Tickets for the lecture are currently available here.
