Yto Barrada has been nominated for the 2016 Prix Marcel Duchamp. The shortlist was announced in early February by the selection committee of the French art prize—formed by 11 collectors from the Association for the International Diffusion of French Art (ADIAF). The winner will be announced at the next edition of FIAC in October 2016.
The Prix Marcel Duchamp was established in 2000 by the ADIAF in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, and, since 2005, the Parisian art fair FIAC. It is awarded to a French artist or artist residing in France representative of his or her generation. Winners also get the opportunity to to exhibit their work in a solo exhibition at the Centre Pompidou.
