Liu Jianhua brings “Discard” to the triennial “Echigo-Tsumari Art Field”

The triennial “Echigo-Tsumari Art Field” is opening on 26 July. 100 international artists and groups, including Chinese artists Cai Guo Qiang, Liu Jianhua, Rong Rong and Inri will participate in this event. Contemporary British sculptor Antony Gormley, the most important performance artist Marina Abramović and the significant contemporary Russian artists Ilya & Emilia Kabakov will also bring their works to the show.

Artist Liu Jianhua is going to bring “Discard” to the exhibition. The installation consists of approximately 7000 everyday objects made of porcelain. The artist is also referencing his earlier work, “Regular Fragile," from 2001. It has matured in these years, and has taken on new meanings in the exhibitions around the world.
