Maya Lin awarded the U.S. State Department Medal of Arts

Maya Lin has been selected as a 2015 recipient of the U.S. State Department Medal of Arts. Lin will be presented the award by Secretary of State John Kerry in a ceremony on January 21, 2015. The award is bestowed biennially to artists in recognition of their artistic achievements and commitment to the Art in Embassies program.

 

In 2014, Lin was honored with the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize and had solo exhibitions at Ivory Press, Madrid; the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno; and the Parrish Art Museum, Water Mill, NY. Her exhibition Maya Lin: A History of Water will be on view from January 29 through May 10, 2015 at the Orlando Museum of Art.

Among other previous honors, Lin is a 2009 recipient of the National Medal of the Arts and a 2005 inductee into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
