Two historic sites will host a major exhibition by Chinese artist Zhang Huan this summer.
Forte di Bevledere will present its inaugural exhibition, Zhang Huan: L'Anima e la Materia (Soul and Matter), a show which extends through Florence to the Palazzo Vecchio. The Fort, originally constructed in the sixteenth century by Grand Duke Ferdinand I de' Medici, will reopen to the public on July 8 after a five-year restoration.
This is the artist's first solo exhibition in Italy since 2007 and his first show in the city of Florence. Zhang Huan’s work is the subject of another solo exhibition this summer at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Grand Rapids through August 25.
Zhang Huan: L'Anima e la Materia (Soul and Matter) will be on view at Forte di Belvedere and Palazzo Vecchio from July 8 through October 13, 2013.
